2019, birch, birchbark, steel, stone. 9’ x 8’ x 8’,
The idea for this project grew from my research into the nomadic Sami culture and the lavvu structures they fabricated. The work consists of a tent like form constructed of birchbark over an armature. There are seating elements on each side made of split birch logs. The piece exists along a trail on one of the highest points in Nolhaga Park. It is in Alingsas, Sweden and was commissioned by Kulturforeningen Tornet for Landart in Alingsas.
